Ohkay Casino Resort

On the San Juan Indian Reservation in New Mexico, Ohkay Casino Resort lies in the heart of the city of Ohkay Owingeh. Ohkay Owingeh is the traditional home of the San Juan New Mexico tribe, and thanks to state laws regulating tribal gaming operations, the tribe runs what is almost a full-service casino in an otherwise desolate are of the United States.

Near enough to Santa Fe and the Colorado border to attract tourist interest, Ohkay Casino Resort puts a heavy emphasis on the “resort” section of their name. The attached hotel and resort amenities are probably a bigger draw, at the time of this review, than the legal casino gambling.

The site includes several restaurants and bars, conference space, a live performance space, a 20,000 square foot casino floor, and a full-service spa, as well as retail stores and easy access to nearby tourist destinations like historic Santa Fe.
