First Council Casino Hotel

First Council Casino Hotel combines an 87-room hotel and resort property with one of the largest gaming floors in Oklahoma. First Council Casino is a tribal operation, run by the 7 Clans organization that operates several tribal gaming venues across the state.

Newkirk, Oklahoma, the home of First Council Casino Hotel, was traditionally home to clans of the Cherokee Tribe. Six miles west of the Arkansas River, Newkirk is in a sparsely populated area of Oklahoma that has boomed thanks to the existence of tribal gaming.

Games

Table games are not the focus of First Council, as is the case across the state known as Native America. Some table games are hosted, like casino-style poker and blackjack, but the focus of the gaming operations at this casino is the massive 1,400-piece slot and video poker section.

Live and electronic bingo games are another popular choice at this northern Oklahoman gaming venue, though the bingo hall is not open 24 hours a day like the casino. Posted hours for bingo games indicate that the games are available between 10 AM and 10 PM most days year-round.

Restaurants & Bars

The only restaurant on the property is the FlatWater Bar & Grill, a casual dining spot with a separate bar area for casino guests who want a quick bite or beverage. FlatWater focuses on traditional American food – hot dogs, burgers, steaks, and seafood.

Entertainment

First Council is home to a live stage space where local and regional touring acts perform on a weekly basis. Most of the acts that perform here are country music related, with an emphasis on local Oklahoma and Texas country acts.

Other Facilities

Attached to the hotel and casino is the Council Bluff Event Center, featuring space for meetings and symposia, weddings and other gatherings. The space has enough room for between 40 and 400 people, and on-site catering and buffet service is available.
