IGT (International Game Technology) is based in Nevada in the USA and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Initially specialising in gaming machines for bricks and mortar casinos and other establishments, IGT have branched out to offer online and mobile gaming solutions to clients around the world. With offices in various locations from Las Vegas to London and Manchester to Mexico, this is a truly massive organisation and in July 2014 they agreed to be acquired by GTECH (an Italian gaming behemoth) for over $6 billion. IGT Interactive looks after the online and mobile gaming side of the business.

IGT software powers in the region of 150 online and mobile casinos, most of which are based in the UK. Despite being based in the United States, players who reside there are not able to enjoy IGT-powered casinos, but their games can be found when visiting some of the biggest and most reputable European gaming brands.

IGT Casino Games

IGT games are some of the best around when it comes to their look, feel and gameplay. With a fine range of slots, cross-platform games, MegaJackpot (progressive) offerings and table and mini games, IGT-powered casinos and games suites have a lot to offer players. It is clear that time and money has been invested in the development of their games, as evidenced by the fantastic graphics, sounds, gameplay and narratives that they almost all exhibit. They also have an increasing number of games (slots, table games and video poker) which can be played on mobile and tablet devices, all of which retain the high standards that their desktop equivalents bring.

  • Slots - At the time of writing there are around 60 slots, of which 18 are available to play on mobiles and tablets. With a handful of licensed options such as Ghostbusters, Monopoly and Star Trek, IGT’s slots are brimming with interesting features that will keep you interested as you try to win big. With plenty of wilds to get things going and the same flawless gameplay to be found on all the slots, there are plenty of options when it comes to the themes or the number of paylines (from just one on the classic Double Diamond to over 720 ways to win on Sumatran Storm). Many of the slots have win ratios around the 94-95% mark, which is pretty good in comparison to some of their rivals.
  • Blackjack - IGT don’t have as many blackjack variants as some of the other casino software companies, focussing instead on their slick slots. The six they do have include Power Blackjack, Win-Win Blackjack with Rescue Bonus and Multi-Hand Blackjack and all are clearly very well made and function very well without being at all confusing. There is just one blackjack version for mobile players, but it allows for re-splitting split hands and aces can be played like any other split card.
  • Roulette - As with blackjack there is just one roulette game for mobiles and tablet, but – thankfully – it is the European version with just the single zero. Desktop roulette comes in eight varieties including a fascinating three-wheel version that has wins that pay 1000 times you stake.
  • Video Poker - There are eight video poker options for desktop players and four for those using mobiles, with Jacks Or Better, Double Bonus Poker and even Double Double Bonus Poker given you plenty of chances to snatch a big win.
  • Other Games - IGT don’t have much in the way of instant win games, but they have a smattering of mini games and also offer craps, but – as mentioned – their main focus is their exemplary selection of slots. They don’t produce any live casino games at present.

Progressive Jackpots

At the time of writing IGT has produced just three progressive jackpot slots under their MegaJackpots banner: Cleopatra, Cluedo (with free spin mystery bonus) and Monopoly (with pass “Go” bonus). They are all multi-line, multi-coin and multi-currency and as such are offered over a vast network. Given the fact that they have relatively few progressives and hence means they are not watered down, the jackpots can reach astronomical heights.

Cluedo and Cleopatra are both five-reel slots with 20 paylines whilst Monopoly also has five reels but with just nine paylines. But all have plenty of features and bonuses and – of course – give you the chance to win millions of pounds when wagering even small stakes.

About IGT

As mentioned in the introduction, IGT is a massive, global company, and it employs over 5,000 people and has annual revenues in excess of $2 billion. IGT Interactive – which is the part of the business concerned with online and mobile gaming solutions – has been around since 2002, and in the last six years has handled over $17 billion in wagers! While IGT Interactive’s headquarters are in San Francisco, they also have offices in others areas of the world including the UK and China, where their game studios spend a lot of time and effort producing their sharp, exciting games.

The impending takeover by GTECH S.p.A. – whose headquarters are in Rome, Italy and have one of the broadest portfolios of gaming products and services of any company in the world – is sure to change things at IGT. We hope that it will allow them to continue with their development of great casino games and we feel, if anything, it will give them the time and resources to produce more games and perhaps branch into slightly different areas such as the development of a robust and exciting live casino.

Overall, online casinos using IGT software should be fun, safe and exciting places to play, and whether you want a few hands of video poker or you want to chase one of the Mega Jackpots fortunes, you can be assured that you will find excellence throughout their games and they come highly recommended.
