Turkmenistan is in Central Asia next to Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Afghanistan, and the Caspian Sea. Turkmenistan became independent from the Soviet Union in 1991, however, it is still an extremely repressive country, in which the President retains unlimited power and control over the every day lives of the public.

Gambling, however, is legal and has been since the country became independent. But given the poverty in the country, the couple of casinos that exist are mainly there for tourists, visiting from the neighbouring countries. Online gambling is also legal, but there are not really any local operators with citizens having to play on foreign based sites.
