The Central American country of Guatemala shares borders with Mexico, Belize, Honduras, El Salvador, the Pacific Ocean, as well as the Caribbean. There are approximately 15 million people living in the country in over 42,000 square miles of land. Guatemala offers four casinos in its capital city, Guatemala City, and one in Quetzaltenango. The majority of these are simply slot halls run by the Fantastic Video Loteria, but two independent casinos offer more traditional table games, like roulette, blackjack, and poker.
Technically, gambling is illegal in the country, however, operators have clearly ignored the outdated 1880 Penal Code. With regards to online gambling - this is not yet regulated, so Guatemalan players can choose to play on foreign based sites that accept players from their country.
