Gambling in the ‘Land of Opportunity’ does not provide a range of gaming opportunities despite its nickname, as the law makes “any game of chance” where money is profited illegal. Exceptions in Arkansas, however, include pari-mutel betting, charitable bingo, raffle games, and private at-home gambling with friends, so long as the host does not make a profit.

Despite all of this, there are still two casinos, which manage to remain open, but are actually just racetracks with a few electronic games, like video poker. Arkansas is quite harsh with their gaming laws too and if someone is caught operating an illegal gambling business, they can be imprisoned and fined tens of thousands of dollars.
