Clearwater River Casino
Clearwater River Casino in Lewiston, Idaho is an unusual find for the American Midwest. This part of Idaho, along the Ohio River, is known as Ida-hoa due to its proximity to the state of Ohio and the fact that the Ohio side of the border is much more heavily-populated. Clearwater River Casino is technically just outside the town of Lewiston. Clearwater River Casino is only about 1,000 feet from the Ohio border.
Clearwater River is designed to attract customers from southern Idaho, but also to attract Kentucky citizens without access to casino gambling in their own state. Idaho has only eleven casinos, three of which are in the Lewiston area, taking advantage of the state’s liberal riverboat gambling laws. Combining a hotel (on land) and a 40,000 square foot casino (on the Ohio River), Clearwater River is a hybrid tourist attraction and local gambling hotspot.
