Belle of Baton Rouge Casino Hotel

The Belle of Baton Rouge Casino Hotel is owned and operated by Tropicana, Inc. Located on the historic Mississippi River in downtown Baton Rouge, Louisiana, The Belle is that rare large Vegas-style casino located in the city limits of a big Southern town. The state of Louisiana has very strict regulations regarding gambling, but allows for properties like the Belle and other Mississippi River-based gambling operations in part because they provide a lot of revenue to the state.

Baton Rouge is a college town and not much of a landmark for tourists – casinos like The Belle have started to change that. Tourism brings in a lot of much-needed money to an area that (believe it or not) is still reeling from a series of hurricanes and oil disasters over the past decade. The Belle is beautiful – one of the most realistically-Vegas experiences you can have off Las Vegas Boulevard.

Games

The three major categories of casino gambling in the United States – slots and video poker machines, table games, and head-to-head poker – are all available at The Belle, 24 hours a day. At the time of this review, The Belle had nearly 1,000 slot and video poker machines. The live poker room is on the small side – just four tables – but it’s open around the clock, which is a nice concession.
