Bellagio

Built in the spot where the once-venerable Dunes stood, the Bellagio is a Vegas Strip icon, with its giant lake, dancing water fountain, and multi-colored edifice. Named after a famous resort town in Italy, Bellagio is a 36-floor hotel and casino/resort complex operated as the flagship of MGM’s casino operations.

The gaming floor is over 116,000 square feet in size, exponentially larger than most American casinos. From its $100 million opening ceremony in 1998 to the hotel’s massive contemporary art collection, everything about the Bellagio is designed to be luxurious. The 2,500-room hotel was recently renovated in 2011.

Games

Excess is the name of the game at the big properties on the Strip, and that’s certainly true at the Bellagio, where some 3,000 slot and video poker titles are available, as are dozens of tables playing all the casino classics, many appearing in multiple rule variations.

The Bellagio is famous for its poker room, most notably the high-limit games frequented by poker professionals. The poker room is open 24 hours a day, and is itself broken up into a couple of different rooms. Only VIPs and poker pros are allowed into Bobby’s Room, where games as high as $4,000/$8,000 take place frequently.

Restaurants & Bars

As a flagship casino and resort complex, the Bellagio’s eating and drinking options seem endless. There are five legitimately upscale restaurants to choose from alone, much less the variety of casual options, grab-and-go snack bars, sports bars, and other eateries. Many of the dining options at Bellagio are open 24 hours a day, for the convenience of gamblers and other guests.

Entertainment

The most famous entertainment option at the Bellagio is the resident Cirque du Soleil troupe, performing a new show every few years. Other options include the traditional casino headlining musical acts and comedians, and local music in at least one bar on-site on a rotating schedule.
